The haunting first feature by 17 year-old Samira Makmalbaf, daughter of the Iranian filmmaker, Mohsen Makmalbaf. Based on a true story and using the family involved the film tells the very bizarre story of twin daughter who live as virtual prisoners with their poor father and blind mother. The father believes that if his 12 year-old daughters are exposed to the sun they will fade. Eventually a social worker persuades the father to let the girls have their freedom to explore the world.
