Set in Australia at the turn of the century. When Joseph Rudd decides to move his family to a small rural farm in Queensland, they try to make the best of it despite terrible weather, not to mention the marsupials, insects, reptiles and other vermin. They struggle with poor harvests and the hatred of their mad neighbour as Joseph comes up with a string of crazy money-making schemes, and realise that they will have to stick together to make it work.
