Only the truth can set him free. Father Daniel Clemens (Christian Slater) becomes increasingly convinced that a colleague has been wrongly charged with murder. When the accused then commits suicide, Clemens takes over his post with the intention of solving the mystery. With the help of his childhood sweetheart he embarks upon a quest that may lead to further bloodshed but might just lead him to the truth and his true calling.
