With the death of the avant-garde Frank Zappa, the world lost one of the most enigmatic figures of the rock and jazz fusion scene. But Zappa's music lives on, and the musicians of the 'Best Band' are undoubtedly the right people to bring it onto the stage once more. Accordingly, musicians: Ike Willis, Bruce Fowler, Kurt McGettrick, Robert Martin, Tommy Mars, Tom Fowler, Arthur Barrow, Ed Mann, Jay Dittamo and Chad Wackerman reacted enthusiastically when the Jazz Open's organisers proposed giving a concert entitled 'A Tribute to the Music of Frank Zappa'. They spontaneously agreed to take part and immediately formed themselves into 'The Band from Utopia' - and so one of the most unusual nights of the Jazz Open was born. Zappa's musical companions prove during this unique concert experience that his music will continue to influence and inspire many musicians. The Programme: Bamboozled By Love, Lucille, Bebop Tango, Easy Meat, Uncle Meat, Sofa, Andy, Outside Now and The Illinois Enema Bandit.
