In her first major role, Juliette Binoche stars as the free-spirited actress Nina, who has moved to Paris and following a string of sexual encounters meets timid estate-agent Paulot. He is smitten but she is more interested in his flatmate Quentin, an aggressive, emotionally disturbed actor who performs in live sex shows. The film received an award for Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival.
