The inspiring true story of how Homer H Hickman Jr started on the path that lead to him becoming a NASA engineer. In 1954 in the mining town of Coalwood, the news that Russia had launched the Sputnik probe is greeted with horror by all residents - except one. When young Homer sees Sputnik streak overhead he becomes obsessed with building a rocket of his own. His teacher encourages him to enter the local science fair, where he could win a college scholarship, but this is against his father's wishes...
