A revolution in Hungary, against Soviet influence and control, is suppressed by Soviet troops, resulting in the death of thousands and almost a quarter of a million people leaving the country as refugees. The Ten Commandments, the spectacular biblical epic, is a remake of the director Cecille B Demille's own 1923 version of the story. The film had a massive budget and stars Charlton Heston supported by a cast of thousands.
