Six Oscars rewarded this triumphant historical drama, based on the play by Robert Bolt, about Sir Thomas More, martyred by Henry VIII because he would not agree to the King's divorce from Catherine of Aragon. Paul Scofield was honoured as Best Actor, Zinneman as Best Director, and it was named Best Film of 1966.
