Discovery Wings - Whispering Death Movie
First developed for use in Vietnam, the Cobra was the world's first attack helicopter. Today, almost forty years later, new models still cut a lethal swathe on the battlefield with their eight anti-tank missiles, rocket pods and 20mm cannon. Just 90cm across the cockpit, the Cobra has an illusive shape which is a real challenge to enemy gunners while its 'Nap of the Earth' ground-hugging flying capabilities enable it to appear out of almost nowhere. Whispering Death traces the evolution of this awesome gunship from Vietnam onwards, with dramatic combat film, exclusive pilot interviews and even 'home movies' from missions in Vietnam and Laos. It also looks at the Cobra's contribution to the 1991 Gulf War and includes a dramatic reconstruction of a Cobra-led raid deep into Serbian territory to rescue a downed pilot during the Balkans conflict.
