Dirty Dozen, The Movie
In 1944, a group of bottom-of-the-barrel military convicts are recruited as a commando suicide squad. Their mission - to wipe out high-ranking German officers quartered in a French chateau. One of the first films to relinquish the heroic aspects of war for sheer brutality, it has been much imitated. Cassavetes was Oscar-nominated as Best Supporting Actor.
