Jean-Luc Goddard's amazing first film which had an almost revolutionary impact when it was first released. Belmondo is Michel Poiccard, a swaggering, wiry, tough guy who steals and car and drives through the country, shooting and killing a motorcycle cop who pulls him over. He spends the rest of the movie on the run but cannot resist meeting up with an old American girlfriend in Paris.
