Two films. Yakuza Papers - Based on the prison diary of a yakuza, (Kozo Mino), involved in the gang wars that ravaged Hiroshima in post-war Japan. The villainous godfather Yamamoru initiates him into his ruthless gang, which inevitably wins the power struggle through titanic, gruesome battles. Once more with The Yakuza Papers, director Kinji Fukasaku elevates brutality and abrupt editing to new levels as he emphasises the degeneration of the feudal samurai's code of ethics. Yakuza Graveyard - Tetsuya Watari is a brooding misfit cop who becomes involved in the turbulent underworld that he investigates after developing a bond with a local crime-lord. After the mobster is assassinated he falls in love with his sister he can see no way to end his involvement.
